“Grace does not depend of suffering to exist, but where you find suffering you will find grace in many shapes and forms.” -William Young.
It’s Love Day! Write, draw, or paint “Love” somewhere on your person and let people suffering from depression and thoughts of self-harm or suicide know that we are thinking of them and care <3
“Trying to forget someone that you love is like trying to remember someone you never met.”
“I make mistakes. I am out of control and sometimes hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.” -Marilyn Monroe.
Finally finished my Dia de los Muertos Marilyn! I’m really happy with it. I think I’m going to change the mat around it to a black one, but other than that, I’m satisfied. What should I do next?
“I think I hurt her a bit but she deserves it.” -Kevin Murphy
Parker Cornelious, Director of Sales and Inspiration for Kevin.Murphy, visited us today at school for a Learn.Me and Launch.Me class. It was so much fun! He was very personable and knowledgable. I feel incredibly inspired to really get my hands dirty with K Murphy’s products! Kevin Murphy is a session artist and works actively with Vogue and other high-end brands. He also created the styles in my favorite movie, Moulin Rouge! His method of styling is something my school gives a lot of focus. He is an incredible and innovative person! Also it seems like he is very humble and a true artist as well. Even though he is the creator and owner of a burgeoning successful product line, he still styles hair and takes time to help others achieve his level of success. He actually posts videos, of himself on facebook, giving tips on how to style using his products, which he created himself, to get the look you want. So cool!
His products are 100% sulfate and peraban free. He substituted essential oils and natural preservatives instead. We were given the chance to experiment with them once Parker left and they actually PERFORM. I wish I had taken a picture of Kylee’s hair once I had finished styling it. She has very fine hair that naturally hates volume needed for blowouts, so I used Angel Wash and Rinse after her detox shampoo and it was weight free. Anti-Gravity Spray and the Body Builder Mousse came next and her hair started building volume before I even applied heat! His products build from the inside out, so instead of coating the hair, it gave it a very weightless feel. Once I blew out her hair, I applied Hair Resort Texturizer Spray. Not only does it smell like sun and zero responsibilities (the way I imagine any beach worth it’s salt does), it made her look like she had stepped out of the ocean and air dried. She looked like a Hollywood mermaid. I finished it off with Session Spray to make sure the look and volume held. I now have an overwhelming need to go on a Kevin Murphy shopping spree.
Today was also the first day I gave some serious thought to becoming a session artist.
